History & Religious Importance
Part of the Panch Kedar circuit, said to be 1,000+ years old, associated with the arm of Lord Shiva in bull form. Chandrashila summit (3,690 m) sits 1.5 km above the temple.
How to Reach
Drive to Chopta (via Ukhimath), then a 3.5 km moderate trek to the temple; another 1.5 km climb to Chandrashila.
Best Time to Visit
April to November. Weather varies by altitude — carry warm layers even in summer.
What to Pack
Windproof jacket, trekking shoes with good grip, poncho, thermals for early morning darshans, a small daypack, torch, personal medicines, and a copy of your ID for permits.
